Tom Spender joined LBG in July 2016 as General Counsel for Litigation, Regulatory and Competition contentious matters.
Prior to this, Tom spent 13 years at the UK financial conduct regulator most recently as the Director of Director of Retail and Regulatory Investigations in the Enforcement Division at the Financial Conduct Authority.
During his time at the Regulator, Tom held senior Enforcement and Supervision roles at the FSA and then the FCA. He has led enforcement investigations across the full spectrum of regulatory activity including insider dealing, financial crime and retail mis-selling.
Tom also was a Head of Large Complex Retail Groups in the FCA Supervision department. In this role he was responsible for the conduct supervision of four of the largest retail groups headquartered in the UK. This included retail and wholesale conduct supervision for regulated firms across retail and commercial banking, insurance, financial crime, investment banking and wealth sectors.
Tom is a qualified solicitor and has worked in commercial litigation and capital markets in international law firms in Australia and in London.
